Give your opinion on oral and dental health

Background

Concerned about the health of the population, we want to put the best services in place to help people prevent health problems and take care of their health. We want to define clear policy directions and implement concrete actions to promote good oral and dental health.

Oral and dental health is important in everyday life and for good overall health. It:

• means you can eat without pain;
• speak clearly;
• smile with confidence;
• feel good about yourself;
• contributes to the overall health of your body.

But for many people, it can be difficult to take care of their mouth and teeth or access oral and dental care.

For example, some people:

• have difficulty brushing their teeth every day;
• find that dental care is too expensive;
• have difficulty finding a service near them;
• are afraid or uncomfortable going to the dentist;
• cannot find services that meet their needs;
• do not have the information or help they need to take proper care of their mouth and teeth.

These situations can have an impact on overall health, well‑being and quality of life.

Objectives

We would like to hear about your needs, the issues and barriers you face and your ideas for improving access to oral and dental care and services. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has the same opportunity to have a healthy mouth and teeth.

Procedure

To do things right, several ways of consulting people will be used in the coming months:

• meetings between government departments and other government agencies;
• meetings with groups and committees (for example, professional orders, clinical experts, researchers, etc.);
• meetings with community organizations;
• a public consultation.

The main purpose of the consultation is to improve our understanding of your experience, your reality and your perception of the services or problems encountered. The goal is to gather points of view to advance the reflection together.
