COVID-19 Mobile Application
The government wants your opinion!
The public consultation, which took place between July 8 and August 2, 2020, is now closed. Thank you to the 16,456 participants. The results are now available in the documents below.
About this consultation
The Government of Québec is considering making available to its citizens, who have a smartphone, a mobile application that would help reduce the spread of COVID-19, by informing them, anonymously, that they have been in contact with an infected person.
To this end, it wishes to conduct a public consultation, which makes Québec one of the rare states to sound out public opinion in this respect.
Quebecers would be asked to voluntarily install the mobile application, whose effectiveness will depend on the public’s level of adherence. It would be possible to temporarily deactivate at any time the application or completely erase it.
The free mobile application would use Bluetooth technology to exchange a random ID with other smartphones nearby. This application would exclude any form of geolocation by GPS. There will be no exchange of personal information.
For more information on the application and how it works, see the Additional Information section.
